COMPLEMENT MAP DATABASE
COMPLEMENT-TLR
Recent years have revealed intricate crosstalk of complement with another central pillar of innate immunity, i.e. the Toll-like receptors (TLR) system. Though both systems can recognize and react to pathogen- or damage-associated pattern (e.g., lipopolysaccharides) during infection or injury, the synergy between these two arms of innate immunity is considered highly important for shaping and regulating the overall immune response to a threat. On the other hand, some pathogens exploit those links between complement and TLR as part of their immune escape strategies. This functional map illustrates the crosstalk of TLRs and several complement receptors.
